The legal battle surrounding Newham Council’s decision to approve a casino at Westfield Stratford City has come to an end and we can now officially confirm that a giant Aspers casino will open in Stratford, East London! The new casino will be the largest in the UK and offer an amazing array of casino games with 38 gaming tables, 80 terminals for electronic games, 150 slot machines and a dedicated 150 seat poker room.

The two losing bidders for the Newham casino wanted to challenge the decision through a Judicial Review however they have now dropped their request. Apollo Genting dropped its legal challenge earlier this month and City & Eastern decided to pull out earlier this week. The Aspers project can now officially resume.

The management team at Aspers Group, owned by the Aspinall family, can now get down to work and start fitting out the casino at Westfield Stratford City. This brand new casino in Stratford will create 400 new jobs and complete the entertainment offer at Stratford City. The giant shopping centre will now boast a 14 lane All Star Lanes bowling, a 17 all digital screens Vue cinema, an amazing selection of new restaurants, a new two storey pub and a casino. It really looks like Stratford City will provide fun for all the family. Over the past two years, Westfield Stratford City has been part of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration project.

The new Las Vegas-style casino will also offer a bar and a dedicated cabaret stage. The new Aspers casino at Westfield Stratford City is not the only giant casino to open in London in 2011. The new Hippodrome Casino will also open at the end of 2011 and will be situated in London’s Leicester Square. The Hippodrome will be situated in one of London’s most popular landmark, the old Hippodrome night club building, and the venue has been completely renovated to welcome gamblers in a luxurious environment complete with original features. The Hippodrome will offer three floors of casino games, private gambling rooms, a fine dining restaurant, a 160 seat cabaret theatre and a poker room. The casino in Leicester Square is ideally situated to welcome visitors in the West End and guest staying at the nearby W Hotel while the Stratford City Casino will be situated next to the Olympic park and ideally situated to welcome visitors during the London 2012 Games as well as local residents and gamblers from East London and Essex.

Newham council have confirmed they are delighted that the selected casino project can now go ahead. The winning bid for a new casino in Stratford, East London, had initially been announced in March 2011.
