Orbit tower rises up in Stratford

While Londoners are admiring the rise of London’s tallest skyscraper, the Shard, by London Bridge station, it’s easy to forget that another tower is rising up fast in Stratford. The Orbit Tower will be 377 foot high (114.5m) when it’s completed and it’s rising up fast in East London. The construction of the Orbit Tower (or ArcelorMittal Orbit tower) is well underway and is already 70m high just months after work began in February.

While the Shard can be seen from miles, the Orbit Tower can be seen only from Stratford at this stage but it is slowly being noticed in the Stratford Skyline and will keep rising fast.

The Olympic Park Legacy Company have released a video showing the construction of the tower in the Stratford Olympic site.

The tower is due to be finished in March 2012. The Shard is due to be completed in May 2012. When completed, the London Bridge skyscraper will be the tallest building in the European Union. The Orbit Tower will not break such records but it will certainly be the tallest tower in Stratford.
